It all started with a dream and a well-loved horse encyclopedia….
Borderless began with a rope around Buckshot’s neck and a dream.
As a teen, I brought him home and documented everything: parades, Rodeo Queen events, mounted shooting, bareback rides across the pasture. We lived the motto you see often,:There are NO Limits.
Then life shifted.
After losing my father in 2022, I spiraled. My horses became the first honest reflection of what I was carrying, and they weren’t gentle about it. When they disconnected from me, it stung. I couldn’t just ride through it. I had to actually deal with it.
So I did. Through somatic tools, nervous system based work, and learning directly from the horses, I rebuilt something I hadn’t realized I’d lost.
And Borderless evolved with me.
What started as riding lessons became something bigger. Fear, stress, and miscommunication don’t stay outside the round pen. Students were carrying life with them. So were the horses.
I started weaving in evidence-informed learning principles and sessions became grounded, empowering, and transformational.
Today, Borderless is about building curious, confident horses and resilient, present humans. Misattunements happen. What matters is how you repair them.
Whether you’re a horse-loving kid, a returning adult, or an owner ready to understand your horse, this is where that partnership begins.
Sabrina Dobbins
Instructor, Coach and Hobby Zoo Keeper (of domestic animals!)
With over 13+ years of hands-on experience in disciplines like Hunter Jumper, Rodeo Queen competitions, horse judging, and mounted shooting, I come from a deeply traditional background. I was raised in the world of “get it done” horsemanship, where obedience was the goal and pressure was the path.
But the more I listened to horses (and my own nervous system) the more I realized that something was missing. In every lesson, no matter if it’s familiar territory, I love a good challenge when it comes to prioritizing choice and familiarity.
Today, I train and teach through a lens that attempts to challenges the old formulas. I prioritize the emotional and physical wellbeing of both horse and rider in order to create a bulletproof partnership. My methods integrate classical horsemanship principles with a touch of Nervous System informed practices to create a more aware human, and a “heard” equine.
As a current Level 1 Equusoma student and holding numerous certifications in handling horses, I’m continually expanding my understanding of what it means to build horses from the inside out. Whether you're starting fresh or rebuilding after burnout, I offer support that honors where you and your horse are today, without forcing where you “should” be. After all, everyone’s journey (including my own) looks a little different.

FAQ’s
-
At minimum, I request that all riders wear a long form of pants (jeans are usually recommended, but English riding breeches are alright!), close toed shoes (boots will be required at a certain point if sneakers are preferred when starting out) and their own Equestrian rated helmet. I do have loaner helmets to provide for riders, but encourage riders as they advance in their riding to bring their own helmets.
If you are looking for helmet recommendations, please text me, or check out this link to see Virgina Tech's study on Equestrian helmets and their ratings. More money does not always mean safer!

Recommended age is usually 8 years old due to the complex ideologies that may be touched on, but I do not have a min or max age limit. My lessons are tailored to learning horsemanship from a unique, new perspective that incorporates responsibility, confidence building and a dialogue between horse and human (whether a young human or adult human!)
Borderless Horsemanship does enforce a strict weight limit for riding students in an effort to keep our horses comfortable. We request that riders weigh no more than 230lbs at this time. Thank you for understanding. If you weigh more than that, please don't that get you down! There is PLENTY to learn on the ground with horses, and that should not stop you from enjoying your time with our herd! Schedule a trial lesson, and let's see what we can achieve!

Depending on where the lessons take place, and whether there is a covered area to retreat into due to inclimate weather, a "Barn" lesson will be conducted in an effort to push horsemanship beyond just riding. In the event that weather is extremely inclimate, lessons will be cancelled with no cancellation fee observed AS LONG AS no barn lesson was planning to be conducted. I will make my best effort to keep everyone comfortable hand warmers or water as needed! (this comes at no additional charge)
By continuing lessons with Borderless Horsemanship, you agree to pay the cancellation fee in the event a barn lesson will be held, yet you would still like to cancel. -

When you have a chance, please check out my blogs “Forks in the Road” outlining what your first lesson will look like!
My aim is to create a hub of everything horses. Some topics Equine Care, First Aid, Healthy Equine Biomechanics, Nervous System Literacy, and Behaviorism. Students should expect to center themselves in a primarily Negative Reinforcement style of horsemanship (pressure and release) while also obtaining an introduction to Positive Reinforcement training!
From a riding perspective, students can pick Western or English (currently still growing) disciplines and practice at Beginner to Intermediate levels of riding. Advanced Levels of riding are still in the works as I work on building a herd that can accommodate that. Please note that Borderless Horsemanship is not a program dedicated to creating riders for show, however no matter what discipline you’re hoping to build (whether you’re wanting to jump, or barrel race), I am passionate about giving students the proper foundation to compete at those sports competitively and confidently.
